Who’s That Girl?

I’m Lovely. No, really, I am. First name: Lovely. Last name: Lici. You can call me whichever you like. They’re both mine. Or me. Whatever.

There is NOTHING like jumping out of a plane. NOTHING!

I do things. Crazy things. Unexpected things. Fun things. Challenging things. It’s kind of my thing. I recently decided to start running. It’s a process. I know that I can’t just go to Boston and run the marathon. I won’t fool myself. I’m training for a 5K in Florida on January 6, 2012. I’m super excited about it. I don’t have a trainer, and I don’t have any running buddies. It’s just me. Doing this thing. For me. Because I can. And I WILL. Just you watch.

I’m no health nut. I refuse to diet. I eat what I like. I drink Coca-Cola. A lot, kinda. I like chocolate. Cakes? YUM! Ice cream? YUM! People say, “Everything in moderation.” Well, I figure balance is good. A lil ice cream today, and a lil run-run tomorrow. Just because I’m running doesn’t mean I have to eat oatmeal and peanut butter-banana toast. Right? I mean, I will when I feel like it. I’m going to be sensible about this. And safe and healthy. Just not NUTTY. Or fanatical. You know what I mean, right? I just wanna likv my best life NOW. Wait. I think I just channelled Joel Osteen or something. *coughs*

I’m a beginner. I’m excited. I’m (self) motivated. I’m ridin’ solo. I welcome fellow beginners to join the party. We can do this, one run at a time. I welcome accomplished, seasoned runners to offload all of their tips and tricks and words of advice on my blog. Comment on posts, send me emails. Whatever. Every bit of advice is appreciated. It’s nice to have the whole entire freaking internet backing you when you’re doing something like this. If you’re reading this, you probably know that already. This should be a fun, interesting, educational ride run.

I hope to get some floating/swimming/tanning in on my rest days. I LOVE the beach.

My cross-training will vary. I’ll be running 3-4 days per week. On the non-running days, I’ll be cycling, doing Zumba, and jumping/jogging on my rebounder. I’m hoping to get some 5lb-ers to work my arms. Gotta firm these babies up. I’m also going to try to find my workout plan from about two years ago. It was great, and required the use of nothing by my own body weight and a chair. I’m talkin’ push-ups, planks, and lunges. Serious business!

About the name: I chose it for a million reasons. I don’t even know how to tell you in a way that it would make sense without doing it in a list. Here we go:

  1. I LOVE ice cream.
  2. I LOVE cake.
  3. This thing I’m doing is no cake walk, but I like pretending that it is, and knowing that it will be. At some point.
  4. If we’re gonna run, there’d better be some ice cream at the finish line.
  5. People take walks and runs all the time for all sorts of different reasons.
  6. I just like the way the two parts sound. Cake walk. Ice cream run. Like, they’re real-life phrases that are used a lot. They have a certain fluidity and coolness.
  7. It just seems perfect for my blogernality. You know… The personality of my blog.

This is a major work in progress. THESE are a major work in progress. The running AND the blog. Hahaha.
